She is a graduate of Baylor University earning a B.S. in Education with Speech Pathology certification and M.S. in Speech Pathology and Audiology. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is fully licensed in the State of Oklahoma. She was in private practice for 20 years during which time she provided speech pathology services for Cancer Treatment Center/Tulsa. It was in this venue that she had the privilege of working with Dr. Brad Mons, Matt Rinehart and Kelly Hamilton in a highly collaborative health-care setting where the patient was the central member of the care team. She focuses on approaching patient care as one would want to be treated or how one would want a family member treated, addressing each patient’s unique needs toward improved quality of life and maximum outcomes. She has taught a number of classes, both undergraduate and graduate level, as Adjunct Lecturer at Oklahoma State University in the Department of Communicative Disorders. She is proficient in performing and interpreting swallowing diagnostic evaluations of Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies. She is trained to manage voice prosthetics for individuals who have had total laryngectomy and other additional speech-generating communicative devices. She has presented applicability of diagnostic swallowing assessments toward functional improvement of swallowing for the Oklahoma Speech-Language-Hearing Association annual conference. She is trained in management of head/neck lymphedema by the Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy. She is founder and facilitator for the Northeast Oklahoma Head and Neck Cancer Support Group, which meets monthly to provide education and support for individuals and caregivers experiencing head/neck cancer.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, gardening and researching emerging and innovative treatments to address impairments caused by head/neck cancer.
